Volunteer Opportunities


National Rebuilding Day

Skilled Tradespeople or General Handymen/women  Skilled tradespeople who are willing to donate their labor on National Rebuilding Day (or year-round). Plumbing, carpentry, masonry, appliance repair, tree pruning/removal and more can assist homeowners in need throughout Bergen County.

Safety Coordinator  Ensure that all work at a job site is done in a safe manner. View the home in advance, work with the home team, plan for potential hazards, and take preventive measures to eliminate risks.

House Ambassador  Be available to the homeowner on Rebuilding Day and represent his or her interests; serving as liaison between the homeowner and the work team. Good communication and people skills needed. Must be able to work with all ages.

Evaluations Team Members 

Evaluators visit the homes or non-profit facilities whose owners/managers have applied for assistance from Rebuilding Together and report on the repairs or renovations that should be made for safety, warmth, energy efficiency and accessibility.  Requires attendance at two evening meetings for training and final selections, but otherwise able to volunteer on your own schedule (daylight hours preferred); knowledge of home repairs, construction, etc., is helpful.  Evaluations take place from late spring through October.

Board Members

Our board of directors meets monthly to oversee the organization and steer it toward a vision for the future. We are looking for new members who have skills in volunteer management, event planning, finances, or fundraising and who have connections to the diverse Bergen County communities that we serve.
