volunteer with us

Take the next step. Rebuild with us.

Rebuilding Together North Jersey is built on volunteers like you! You can change someone’s life. You can help make a home safe and healthy. You can bring a local family — your neighbors — so much peace and comfort.

No matter your skill level or schedule, we can find volunteer opportunities that work for you.

You can help rehabilitate a home or community center by learning from skilled volunteers. Perhaps you are a skilled volunteer, you can take on more of a leadership role. Maybe you have no construction interest at all but you can help us with marketing, fundraising, photography, social media, outreach in the community, or even general office work. Whatever way you volunteer, you will make a huge difference for neighbors in need.

You can volunteer once a year, once a month, or as often as you wish. If you are under 18 you must have a parent or guardian complete an additional section of our regular volunteer waiver form. If you are under 14 you must be accompanied by a parent as well.

If you’re interested in making a difference, SIGN UP and we will contact you with more information.

Year-round Opportunities:

Skilled Tradespeople or General Handymen/women
We always need skilled tradespeople who are willing to donate their labor on National Rebuilding Day (or year-round). Plumbing, carpentry, masonry, appliance repair, tree pruning/removal and more can assist homeowners in need throughout Bergen County and Passaic County.

Evaluation Team Members
Evaluators visit homes and non-profit facilities whose owners/managers have applied for assistance from Rebuilding Together.  This key function assesses and reports on the repairs or modifications that should be made for safety, health, warmth, energy efficiency, and accessibility.

To be a successful contributor in this role, volunteers should have a good knowledge of home repair and construction.  You can volunteer on your schedule (daylight hours preferred), but attendance at three evening meetings for training and project selections is mandatory.

Board Members
Our board of directors meets monthly to oversee the organization and steer it toward a vision for the future. We are looking for new members who have skills in volunteer management, event planning, finances, or fundraising and who have connections to the diverse Bergen and/or Passaic County communities that we serve. If you would like to share your skills with RTNJ, contact us to discuss current opportunities on our Board of Directors.

Marketing Committee Members
Help us get the word out about Rebuilding Together North Jersey. All you need to be is a creative thinker. Of course, if you have skills in video editing, public relations, graphic/website design, SEO, social media, email marketing, or photography, that’s great too!

Fund Development
Help us plan and execute campaigns that bring in funds so we can help more of our neighbors.
